Film laboratory in Nice: processing and scans
Processing, scanning and printing are three different stages. Bring us an exposed roll, an already-developed negative or a slide to find the right service.
You have an exposed roll of film
It first needs processing to reveal and stabilise the images. Keep it closed and away from heat. The film type determines the treatment: C-41 is for compatible colour negative films; traditional black and white requires an appropriate process. Tell us if a film has expired or its history is unknown.
You want digital files
After processing, negatives can be scanned. You receive files for viewing, sharing, archiving or preparing prints. Choose scan quality for the intended use: simple sharing and a large print do not require the same file. Scanning does not remove the value of keeping your originals.
You want photographs on paper
Printing is the production stage on paper. Specify size, crop, finish and quantity. You can select a few frames, order a series or give particular attention to one image. We distinguish the services so you know what your request includes.
Available processes
The Kodak Express laboratory offers C-41 processing for compatible formats, including 135 and 120, as well as black-and-white processing. E-6 and ECN-2 development are not offered. Lead times depend on the process and laboratory schedule and are confirmed at drop-off.
What about handmade processes?
Cyanotype belongs to a different world: a blue image produced by exposing a sensitised surface to UV light. It can begin with objects or a contact negative. We can discuss a project using these processes and how they might serve your image.
Your questions
Should I request processing and scanning separately?
Mention both requirements when dropping off the film. We will explain the matching package and options.
Can I bring old negatives?
Yes. Their condition, format and intended use help us define suitable scanning or printing.
