Nielsen framing: wood, aluminium and window mounts
A frame complements the artwork, protects it and gives it a place in a room. With Nielsen profiles, we create a combination suited to your image: moulding, window mount, backing and glazing.
Wood or aluminium?
Aluminium offers precise lines and often discreet profiles. Wood provides different textures, depths and finishes. Colour is not the only consideration: moulding width, height and capacity to hold the complete assembly also matter. A thick artwork or large format requires a construction check.
The role of a window mount
A window mount gives the image breathing space and contributes to its balance. Depending on the construction, it can also keep the artwork away from the glazing. Its width is customisable. Natural white, other whites, black and charcoal create different effects: compare them with the colours and densities in your photograph. Materials touching the artwork are selected for its preservation needs.
Choosing glazing
Standard glass, anti-reflective glass and acrylic have different characteristics. Anti-reflection and UV filtration are not the same thing. Check the protection offered by the exact product. Dimensions, weight, display location and the artwork’s fragility guide the choice; the studio confirms compatibility with the profile.
Measuring correctly
Enter the artwork dimensions, then the desired mount width on each side. A 30 × 40 cm artwork with a 5 cm mount all around measures 40 × 50 cm including the mount. Overall external dimensions then depend on the moulding and construction. The configurator provides a preview; we check feasibility before production.
From configurator to basket
Choose a frame for a print you have already prepared, then return to your prints. The basket brings prints, their files and linked frames together in one request. For an object, fragile artwork or specialist construction, contact the studio to define the solution.
Your questions
Can you frame artwork that did not come from the studio?
Yes. Bring its dimensions and, if possible, the artwork itself to choose the construction.
Is a window mount the same as a print’s white border?
No. A border is part of the printed paper; a window mount is a separate element placed around the artwork inside the frame.
